The Reford Gardens - As Time Goes By
20 years of photography at the Reford Gardens

More than 500 photos

My latest photo book was published by Flammarion Québec in June 2022. Every year, over the course of twenty years, I photographed the Reford Gardens. I wanted to celebrate all of these beautiful years of exploration, observation, discovery, enchantment, and pure happiness in this earthly paradise. It was also crucial for me to pay tribute to all those who had allowed me to live those unforgettable moments.
The Reford Gardens - As Time Goes By, the mural
Thus, was born the idea of creating a mural by arranging more than 500 photographs taken in the Reford Gardens, in order to capture their beauty in both ephemeral detail and the harmony of their whole. I called it As Time Goes By... The mural, which measures 12.2 m wide by 1.2 m high (40 x 4 feet), will be printed on metal panels, and installed on the large screen fence at the entrance to the site. In this strategic location, it is seen by visitors as they enter and exit the gardens. It sharpens their eyes before their visit, and extends their pleasure when they leave.
The Reford Gardens - As Time Goes By, the book
This book presents a large selection of the photographs made there, a kaleidoscope of the artwork I designed in order to mark this anniversary. Under a patient and attentive gaze, the gardens reveal a multitude of nuances and a thousand secrets that cannot be grasped during a single visit. From the smallest insect to the grandest installations at the International Garden Festival, the artwork concentrates a whole palette of experiences that we never tire of exploring over time, and in all of the hues of the spectrum.

''As a nature photographer, I also strive to show and reproduce the beauty and magic of nature. I walk around, senses sharpened, in search of that perfection that eludes and surprises us. I look for the unusual, the subject that inspires me... I watch for the ray of light that highlights a line, a colour, a shape. I search for the small detail that amazes. I find myself out of time, in a soothing elsewhere. I am transported beyond the chaos, into a universe where everything is balance and harmony. Beauty protects me from reality.'' lt
PHOTOS FOR SALE
I first exhibited my photographs at the 815 Gallery in Hearst, Ontario in 1988 and have been the subject of several more exhibitions. I was also part of an art gallery for a few years. Of course, not all of the photographs exhibited have been sold. I still have a large number of photos at home, framed, mounted on canvas or metal, matted or simply printed on archival paper. It is time to do away with this "stock" accumulated through the years. Here is a (incomplete) catalog of what I have in my possession. If you are interested in purchasing a photo, please contact me at [email protected]. The pieces will have to be picked up at my home in Gatineau.
